Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (born Rachel Meghan Markle; August 4, 1981) is an American member of the British royal family and former actress. Markle was raised in Los Angeles, California and has a mixed ethnic heritage. During her studies at Northwestern University, she began playing small roles in television series and films. From 2011 to 2017, she played Rachel Zane on the American legal drama Suits. She is an outspoken feminist and has addressed issues of gender inequality, and her lifestyle website The Tig featured a column profiling influential women. She represented international charity organizations and received recognition for her fashion and style, releasing a line of clothing in 2016.

North Lanarkshire Council’s apprenticeship support team has been recognised with a top award.The excellent support to apprenticeships was recognised as the council scooped the title of ‘Business Studies Apprentice Employer of the Year Award’ at a recent ceremony hosted by New College Lanarkshire (NCL).The NCL Apprenticeship Awards ceremony honours the individuals and businesses making apprenticeships work across Lanarkshire.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Carmen told Lanarkshire Live : “It was great to be part of the NCL awards event and even better picking up an award for our work supporting apprenticeships within the council on their journey into work. “As an early careers supervisor, it’s our job to recruit and manage the apprenticeship programme and develop diverse pathways to further education and employment in line with our 'workforce for the future' strategy.“The award recognises our commitment and drive to supporting and helping people across our local communities.
