Noah Oppenheim To Exit As NBC News President; Rebecca Blumenstein To Take Top Role As Part Of Division Reorganization

Noah Oppenheim, who has served as president of NBC News since 2017, is leaving his position, while New York Times deputy managing editor Rebecca Blumenstein will take a top role as part of a reorganization of the news division.

Oppenheim will take a production deal at NBC Universal, according to a staff announcement on Wednesday from Cesar Conde, the chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group.

Blumenstein’s title will be president of editorial for NBC News, a new role, and she will oversee editorial, news gathering, bureaus, field operations, booking, Meet the Press, Dateline and NBC News Studios.

The reorganization will see other news division duties handled by other top executives in the division. Libby Leist, who has been senior vice president of Today and NBC News, will take on an expanded role as executive vice president of Today and lifestyle.
