In May 2020 the sight of delivery drivers dropping off a care package to residents cooped up because of the Covid pandemic was a familiar sight.
But one particular drop-off on a Saturday morning that month had huge repercussions for the criminal underworld across the north west, and led to the downfall of two notorious crime gangs at either end of the M62.
A Salford-based crime gang, with the backing of a Liverpool gangster, carried out a bloody and brutal raid on a stashhouse belonging to a feared Merseyside outfit.
The robbers left with more than £1m of cocaine. In the aftermath, the Liverpool outfit sought their own brand of summary justice.
