No stopping inspiring West Lothian schoolgirl at Parasports Festival

Brave West Lothian schoolgirl Ella Green was excited to represent her home town at the Parasports Festival in Winchburgh Wellbeing Centre.Ella had an “absolutely memorable day” representing Broxburn.Her dad William said his daughter had the chance to take part in new sports and activities she’d never experienced before.Ella has arthrogryposis multiplex congenital (AMC) which had confined her to a wheelchair but after a pioneering operation in Poland, Ella has been fighting to walk on her own.William said: “Ella got invited to the Parasports Festival in Winchburgh Wellbeing Centre.“It was a full day of sports and she loved it so much.“First she did the wheelchair basketball and loved the adapted wheelchair, gave it her best shot although she soon discovered it wasn’t the sport for her.“Ella then tried Boccia, this was really good, although the balls were a bit heavy.

She was able to use a chute, her aim was perfect!“She then got to show off her swimming skills in the pool. The ASN worker and The Scottish disability swimming team thought she was amazing.“After lunch she tried wheelchair cricket – she tried her best but lost interest quite quickly, I think its cause she saw the canoe and was set on this.“Desperate to get back in the water, she signed up for canoeing, we even signed up to go in the canal in Edinburgh on May 3.

There are so many great opportunities for the disabled kids.“I want to say a massive thanks to all staff involved, and a special mention for Kim, our Blue Team leader, who was very helpful and kind and great with Ella.“A big well done to all the kids involved.
