A trespasser caused a night of chaos on one of Greater Manchester's busiest railway lines. There was 'major disruption' with passengers warned not to travel as lines lines between Piccadilly, Manchester Airport and Stockport were blocked for around three hours.
Dozens of services were cancelled or delayed, with passengers complaining of being abandoned at stations and being trapped on stationary trains for hours.
Network Rail said a 'trespasser' on the line in the Levenshulme area led to the closure. The man was said to have been detained by police shortly after 7pm.
