Nigella Lawson was scolded for advocating “minesweeping” leftover party wine to use in cooking. The TV chef, 61, admitted she would pour the dregs from glasses into ice trays for when she needed splashes in meals.
She recalled: “If I had people for dinner, I’d do minesweeping if anybody had left any wine and I put it in the freezer. But I got a complaint from a meningitis society, so I’ve learnt the error of my ways.” In a 2001 episode of Channel 4’s Nigella Bites, Nigella showed viewers her “wine slushies” – bags of the frozen wine.
