CBS News. While discussing her latest film, “Babygirl,” Kidman was asked whether there was a time that she thought about giving up on acting. “Yeah, of course,” she replied before sharing that her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, advised her to stick with it.“When I gave birth to [Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban], I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m pretty much done now,'” the Oscar-winner recalled. “We were living on a farm, and that’s when my mother said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely.

Keep a finger sort of in it.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no. I’m done now. I’m done.’ She’s going, ‘Just listen to me. Keep moving forward.

Not saying that you have to do it to the level you’ve been doing it, but I wouldn’t give it up completely.’”Kidman went on to say that the generational difference between the two may have colored her mother’s guidance.“That came from a woman who was from a generation that didn’t have the opportunities that I had, that she had helped create for her daughters,” the star added. “So that’s probably something that she wished she’d had when she was little.”Kidman clearly took her mother’s advice.

Three years later, she landed a Best Actress Oscar nomination — her third — for her role in “Rabbit Hole.” She has since been nominated for two more Oscars, including for Best Supporting Actress in 2017 for “Lion” and Best Actress in 2022 for “Being the Ricardos.” She previously won a Best Actress Academy Award in 2003 for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf “The Hours.” Today, Kidman is one of the most prolific actresses in Hollywood.
