Nicola Sturgeon welcomes "sustained signs of hope" in battle against coronavirus

Scotland is seeing "sustained signs of hope" in its fight against coronavirus, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said.Speaking at Holyrood today, she said the country was slowly moving in the right direction.

It comes as the death toll to the disease fell for the second week in a row.But Mr Sturgeon, who welcomed the positive trend, stressed this "doesn’t mean we can relax yet".Speaking at First Minister’s Questions, she said that if transmission rates continue to fall, Scotland could "gradually relax the lockdown restriction".Weekly figures from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) show there were 425 deaths linked to coronavirus in the seven days up to Sunday, May 10.That is down by 110 from the previous week and 244 lower than the
