NHS workers will not be first in the queue for the new coronavirus vaccine as care homes and the over 80s return to the top of the list.
NHS Providers boss Chris Hopson said hospitals would begin by immunising care home residents and staff, and the oldest age group, when the vaccine roll-out begins on Tuesday.
Frontline NHS staff had been bumped to the top of the list due to concerns about the logistics of getting the new Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine into care homes.
The jab has to be kept at around -70C and is initially packed in large batches, which are difficult to split up under quality control rules.
