An NHS doctor and dad-of-six died on the front line of the coronavirus fight just two months after moving to the UK, say heartbroken colleagues.

Dr Furqan Ali Siddiqui worked at Manchester Royal infirmary and was nearing the end of his training when he caught the virus.

Described as an "NHS hero" made "the ultimate sacrifice", he moved to Britain to support his family - including his six young children, wife and elderly parents - who are in his native Pakistan, said friends.

Colleagues said Dr Siddiqui contracted Covid-19 shortly after his arrival in the UK and he was on a ventilator in intensive care for four weeks before he lost his battle.
