By Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and Media The New York Times will celebrate a Broadway season that was brought to an abrupt and painful end by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Gray Lady will salute the Great White Way with “Offstage: Opening Night” on June 11, at 7pm ET. The event is meant to salute both shows such as “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” and “Moulin Rouge!
The Musical” that were in the middle of successful runs when theaters closed, as well as ones such as the revival of “Company” that was still in previews when Broadway’s lights went dark.
It’s unclear when Broadway will be back in business, but theaters are supposed to stay shuttered into September, and many people in the industry believe that performances won’t resume
