New employment laws aimed at upgrading the rights of workers in the UK have been announced by the government. Business secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the Employment Rights Bill will raise the minimum floor of employment rights and raise living standards across the country.
He said the new laws will be "the biggest upgrade in employment rights for a generation". Employees with parental or other caring responsibilities are set to benefit from the new laws, while sick pay is also set to see significant reforms.
The Bill also includes plans to ban exploitative zero-hours contracts and fire and rehire practices. READ MORE: Tax grab on NHS pensions could see 'return to strikes', government warned The Bill includes 28 separate reforms in total.
