A fast-growing new racket sport known as ‘padel’ could soon feature at the TraffordCity complex. Plans have been submitted to Trafford council by the Wilmslow-based The Padel Club which is bidding to spend £2 million on the 1.5-acre development including 11 courts - nine covered and two open air - with development partner Peel L&P.
Padel, said to be the most ‘on trend racket sport’, is played in a glass-walled court about one-third of the size of a tennis court.
Doubles players continue the game even when the ball bounces off the glass wall.
