New play facilities for children in Wishaw confirmed

New facilities for children in one area of Wishaw has been confirmed. A new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) is being installed next to St Aidan’s Primary School in Coltness.Once the MUGA is installed at the old red blaes pitch site next to the school, there will be free community access to the MUGA after school hours.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The gate will be opened after school for local children and local sports groups to use freely.The MUGA will include a court for multiple sports like basketball, football and tennis, there will be a 100M running track surrounding the court and a grass five-aside pitch including goals will also be available.Independent Murdostoun councillor Cammie McManus confirmed the plans on social media.He added: “It’s always good to be able to provide facilities like this for young people.

This will be a welcome addition to Coltness.”Fellow Murdostoun councillor Louise Roarty added: “It is very welcome news for our young people.
