New office space for small and start-up businesses as well as major companies is set to spring up in Salford's Media City. Councillors on the city's planning and transportation regulatory panel have approved an application by Peel Media Ltd for an 11-storey building including ground floor commercial space for drinking outlets.
The decision will spell the loss of a football pitch which currently occupies the site near to the Holiday Inn Hotal and the BBC Dock House.
Media City managing director Steve Wild addressed the panel and hailed the development at the 'next stage of the social and economic regeneration of the area'.
He said there would be 350,000 square feet of offices and co-working space. "It will put Salford at the leading edge of accommodation for business with a best in class amenity," he said. "Our commitment to meet net zero carbon status is on of the key issues [with this development]."
