Plans for a new £30m four-star hotel on Blackpool Promenade have been unveiled. The 184-bed hotel would be run by Fragrance Group and based on the site of the former St Chad's Hotel, which shut in 2021.
Blackpool Council has granted permission to demolish St Chad's, the Lyric Hotel, Regency Apartments, and the Seaside Fish and Chip Shop located between the Promenade, Woodfield Street, St Chad's Road, and Bolton Street.
The site was cleared in May. After St Chad's shut due to insolvency, the building was used for training exercises by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Lancashire Police.
Martin Rogers, from Fragrance Group, who already own The Imperial Hotel and the Lyndene Hotel, said: "Our acquisitions in Blackpool over recent years show that we are committed to the area, and believe in its long-term potential.
