The creator of the popular romantic comedy, Nobody Wants This, has responded to criticism regarding the show's portrayal of Jewish women.
The series, written by Erin Foster, focuses on an unconventional romance between an agnostic podcaster (played by Kristen Bell) and a newly single rabbi (played by Adam Brody).
As their relationship develops, they must navigate their cultural differences. Since its premiere last week (September 26), the Netflix show has received high praise from fans and critics alike, earning an 8.2/10-star rating on IMDB and a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite the positive reviews, the show has faced some backlash for its depiction of Jewish women. Entertainment journalist Esther Zuckerman was among the critics, penning a review titled: Nobody Wants This Mean-Spirited Depiction of Jewish Women in Nobody Wants This, for Time magazine.
