Scandals, starring Ji Chang-wook, Son Ye-jin and Nana.On March 26, Variety reported that Netflix has greenlit Scandals, a historical K-drama set in the Joseon dynasty that is inspired by the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal.
The movie was notably an adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ French novel Dangerous Liaisons to a Joseon-era setting.In the Korean version of the story, Scandals follows Lady Cho and Cho Won as they engage in a calculated wager in a bid to challenge the cultural norms surrounding love and relationships of the era, when personal desires were often suppressed.
A widow named Hui-yeon also joins the fray as an unexpected participant in their scheme.Thirty Ninestar Son Ye-jin is confirmed to join the cast as Lady Cho, while Welcome to Samdal-ri‘s Ji Chang-wook will star across her as Cho Won.
They will be joined by Mask Girl actress Nana, who will star as Hui-yeon. Scandals is set to be helmed by Tune In for Love and Somebody director Jung Ji-woo.In other Netflix news, the streaming service recently dropped the main trailer for upcoming medical K-drama Resident Playbook, a spin-off of the popular K-drama Hospital Playlist.
