Kieran John Cooper was found in a wooded area off Woodhead Road in Holmfirth on June 1. Opening the hearing at Rochdale, assistant coroner for North Manchester Julie Robertson was told Kieran had been reported missing by his mother Amanda.
A 'note of intent' was found by Amanda at his Byland Avenue, Oldham home. Kieran was identified from tattoos on his body, PC Paula Mills told the court.
Miss Robertson adjourned the hearing until November 10 for evidence to be gathered from his family, his GP, mental health, and West Yorkshire Police.
