Ellingson hadn’t appeared on-screen in over a decade. His last role was on “CSI: Miami,” in 2010. He also appeared in an episode of “Bones” in 2005, and he’s best known for the 2009 movie “My Sister’s Keeper,” starring Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin and Abigail Breslin.
Based on a 2004 novel by Jodi Picoult, the tearjerker film followed a family where one child, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), suffered from cancer, so her parents conceived her “savior sister,” Anna (Breslin), in order to donate blood stem cells and save Kate.
Ellingson played their brother, Jesse, who helps Anna sue their parents for medical emancipation, after she’s asked to donate a kidney to her sister.
