The woman, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, says her life has been on pause after her attacker's trial was delayed for over a year due to the effect of Covid-19 on the country's court system.

Michael Nugent, 36, was jailed for 32 months at the Lowry Nightingale Court last month for sexual assault by penetration - nearly three-and-a-half years after the attack took place.

The victim reported the incident to the police the following day, but said she felt she couldn't tell any of her family what had happened due to a relative
