The Prime Video series My Lady Jane has been canceled after just a single season. The series was billed as a radical retelling of English royal history, in which King Henry VIII’s son Edward doesn’t die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey isn’t beheaded, and neither is her charming husband Guildford.

At the center of this swashbuckling new series is the brilliant and headstrong Jane, who is shocked to be crowned queen and finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for the crown (and her head).

Deadline reports that the cancellation news “is not entirely surprising” as the show unfortunately didn’t find a wide audience, despite being one of the best reviewed shows of the year. Emily Bader played the titular character in the series and thankfully she has an exciting new project lined up next! Keep reading to find out more… She just landed the lead role in Netflix’s upcoming film adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation, the first movie from best-selling author Emily Henry‘s collection.
