'My body said no' Strictly's Amy Dowden shares update after hospital dash due to flare-up

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has addressed her recent trip to hospital following an "attack" of Crohn's disease.The Welsh beauty took to Instagram to reveal that she had been "pushing through" the tour despite falling ill, before her body "said no more", and she was taken to hospital to recover, forcing her to pull out of live shows.In view of her 316,000 followers, Amy took to her stories to address the Crohn's flare-up, which led to her being hospitalised.Appearing in full glam, Amy said: "Hey guys, I just wanted to jump on and just say a big thank you for all the lovely messages I've received over the past few days."Firstly, with going poorly, I'm so sorry for missing shows, I'm absolutely gutted."The star went on to express her devastation at having to miss out on performing after falling ill.Amy continued: "I'm absolutely loving it on tour, you only get three weeks on the road and I really want to make the most of it, especially after the pandemic."Going out and performing in arenas has just been incredible, so I was just absolutely gutted," she explained.The Strictly star told how, after feeling ill last Wednesday, she continued to work through the symptoms before her body refused to cooperate.She told her fans: "Unfortunately I started to fall ill on the Wednesday [but] pushed through it."I was really quite poorly, then, towards the end of the week and on Saturday, I think my body just said no more."But due to the amazing care I received in the hospital from the doctors and nurses, I'm back on my feet," she added positively.Amy told how she's learning how to handle "attacks" of the chronic illness, before confirming that she is back with her Strictly co-stars."It was just so lovely to be back with them.
