A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died in hospital after being found unconscious at the side of the road.
Cheshire police believe the 35-year-old may have been 'struck by a vehicle'. A 32-year-old man initially arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving is being questioned on suspicion of murder.
The woman was found unconscious at the side of Padgbury Lane in Congleton in the early hours of Sunday morning. She later died in the Royal Stoke hospital.
Detectives working on the investigation say it is not believed that the woman and the man in custody were known to each other.
