A mum whose weight rose up to 19 stone following a series of traumatic events says she is determined to maintain her new size after an incredible transformation.
Laura, 42, began gaining weight after her mother, Janice, passed away from lung cancer in 2013 at the age of 57. In the same week, Laura's now-husband, James, 38, a civil servant, was diagnosed with leukaemia and despite working hard to shed the pounds, she suffered a setback in 2021 when she had to deal with a miscarriage.
In 2013, Laura weighed around 15 stone. The stress of her husband's diagnosis and grief of losing her mother led her to comfort eat for years until she reached 19st and 5lb (123kg) in 2017. The mother of five, from Milton Keynes, lost eight stone in eight months and felt "fabulous". However, she decided to pause the diet after experiencing issues with her gallbladder.
