A mum was left in shock when, days after childbirth, she discovered a mysterious burn on her body, which turned out to be a grim sign of a flesh-eating condition.

Shortly after celebrating the arrival of her baby daughter, 28 year old dance teacher Charleigh Boyne found herself in an emergency situation, compelled to return to the hospital less than a week postpartum.

Most new mothers experience some level of exhaustion, but six days following the birth of Alessia, Charleigh couldn't keep her eyes open.

An alarming rash on her abdomen compounded her concern. "I had a welted rash on my stomach," she recounted. "It looked like a burn." Her symptoms, both unusual and worrisome, intensified.
