Mum's heartbreak as school bullies cause young daughter's hair to fall out

A heartbroken mum has told of how school bullies led to her her little girl's hair falling out - with it likely never growing back.

Wendy Pullan first spotted a small bald patch on her daughter Bonnie's head while she was off school during a half-term holiday, with the rest of the youngster's hair soon falling out, Hull Live reports.

She did have some hair grow back while at home with her mum during the Covid lockdown, however Wendy believes that the stress Bonnie suffered when returning to school led to the loss of her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.

The schoolgirl was eventually diagnosed with alopecia universalis, a condition that causes complete hair loss which is unlikely to grow back.Wendy, from Halifax, says Bonnie is facing a daily struggle with her confidence and self-image.She said: "As a family, we engage with Alopecia charities and remind Bonnie every day that real beauty is on the inside, but the reality is we know the importance of hair to young girls."As secondary school looms she says things to me like 'Mum, I don’t like myself' or 'Mum, all of my friends are pretty and I’m not'.
