Mum's heartbreak after 'best friend' son, 37, died in 'accident at work'

A grieving mum has spoken of the last time she saw her 37-year-old son before he tragically died. Jeanette Hackney described Craig Hackney as her 'best friend' as she said he died in an accident at work.

The mum said the self-employed joiner, from Abbey Hulton, Staffordshire, was working at a customer's home in Ashley when he fell and died at the scene.

A funeral was held for the "fun-loving family man" last Friday, the Stoke Sentinel reports. His 60-year-old mum said: "We don't know all the details but he was in an accident at work. "He fell while he was working at a customer's home and died at the scene.

We don't know what caused him to fall. "He lived with me and his step-dad. He had left for work as normal on the morning of June 24.
