A mum was misdiagnosed and given the wrong medication before her death, an inquest heard. Neglect contributed to the death of 35-year-old Kayleigh Colegate from Rhyl in North Wales, a coroner ruled.

Mum-of-two Mrs Colegate went to her doctor after complaining of shortness of breath, which left her barely able to walk between the rooms of her home, North Wales Live reports.

She eventually died, with the coroner finding that she passed away after suffering from a pulmonary embolism due to deep vein thrombosis.

Mrs Colegate's death was due to natural causes, but contributed to by neglect, the coroner said. After visiting her GP surgery in May 2022, a nurse found her hands were cold and clammy and she was unable to speak except for in short sentences.
