A mum-of-two has defended making her children wear wrist locks when out in order to protect them from getting 'abducted'. Jemma Freeman, from Maldon in Essex, purchased the gadget amid rising concerns of child abduction cases in her area.

The 30-year-old decided to take matters in her own hands to protect her little ones, buying the safety lock from Amazon for £8.69.

Her two children, Jessica, 3, and Zachary, 8, wear it when they go out with her. The device acts like a wrist strap with an additional lock and coil – and is child-proof, preventing the child from wriggling out of the grasp.

Jemma says she spoke to her two children about strangers and the reasons for wearing the lock and both of them are happy to put it on.
