A mum and her baby came close to death after they contracted sepsis during a traumatic labour. Sophie Goudie, 21, and her son Ledwan contracted the deadly infection when the unborn child became distressed in the womb.
Medics were forced to deliver him via emergency C-section, the Daily Record reported. Sophie was terrified that she would lose her son when it became clear how ill he was.
She said: "It was very scary. It was terrifying thinking something could go wrong and we would lose him." The Ayr woman was admitted to Ayrshire Maternity Unit at Crosshouse Hospital on October 20 after her midwife became concerned that her baby had not been moving. Do you have a story to share?
