A single mum who 'goes out of her way to help others' was given a 'gut-wrenching' diagnosis after being admitted to hospital on Christmas Day.
Jennifer Leighton, from Wirral, was told she had an aggressive form of lymphoma in December last year and was taken to hospital after contracting an infection.
After four rounds of chemotherapy, she had to be readmitted to A&E earlier this year after contracting sepsis. The mum-of-three, who qualified as a GP before being diagnosed, faces a stem cell transplant in the coming weeks which will increase her chances of going into long-term remission, reports the Liverpool ECHO. Jennifer's friend, Louise Furnival, said that while the treatment has been “gut-wrenching”, the hardest part for the doting mum is spending time away from her children.
Louise told the ECHO: “She is a single mum of three children and I met her on the school run when she stopped to help an unwell pregnant mum.
