Multiple injuries after '100 vehicle pile-up' on US interstate in heavy snow as car catches fire

Several people are feared to have been injured in a huge pile up in the US which is said to have involved around 100 cars and lorries.

The incident on the Interstate-84 in Oregon near Multnomah Falls is said to have been caused by the horrendous 'white out' with heavy snow and icy conditions reported in the area.

At least one of the cars, an SUV, caught fire amid the chaos, the Mirror reports. Many people remain trapped within their vehicles as emergency crews rush to the scene.

Multnomah Falls Sherriff's Office said: "Responders have arrived and more are on their way. "There are dozens of vehicles in the crash area with several crash locations on I-84 westbound near milepost 28.
