Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown says Universal Credit cuts will ‘condemn thousands of families to poverty’.The SNP politician has hit out at Scottish Tories for backing the policy which she claims will impact 9,073 households in South Ayrshire.The planned benefit cuts will strip £20 from Universal Credit each week with Ms Brown arguing this will come at a loss of more than £1,000 for families across her constituency.The change is due to be introduced at the start of this month and is set to be the biggest welfare cut since the 1930s.Ayr, Prestwick and Troon MSP Ms Brown believes Scottish Conservatives MSPs are letting down thousands of families and children by supporting “callous” cuts.Ms Brown said: “I was proud to stand up for the 9,073 households.
