An MP has called for immediate action to safeguard young people from resellers who are charging exorbitant prices for Taylor Swift concert tickets.
Labour former minister Kevin Brennan expressed his dismay at the inflated prices of the American singer's upcoming Eras tour tickets on secondary ticketing sites, stating that as a father of a Swiftie, he was appalled by this exploitation.
During a discussion at business questions, Brennan requested a debate on this issue and questioned why the Government had not taken stronger measures to shield 'our daughters' from these 'rip-off merchants'.
He directed his query to Commons leader Penny Mordaunt, seeking clarification on the lack of action taken. Although Swift's UK and European leg of the Eras Tour is scheduled to begin in May 2024, tickets for her 13 UK dates have already gone on sale this month.
