Motherwell assistant boss Stephen Frail has his fingers crossed that keeper Liam Kelly is among ‘one or two’ they hope to be back in their squad for Saturday’s Premiership clash against St Mirren.A back injury picked up in training forced the Fir Park skipper to pull out of the Scotland squad for their double-header against Cyprus last night [winning 3-0] and the 150th anniversary friendly against England at Hampden on Tuesday. That put Kelly on an already-extensive list that includes long-term absentee Calum Butcher, strikers Conor Wilkinson and Jon Obika, and winger Mika Biereth. But Frail hopes the 27-year-old shot-stopper will be one of a few that return for the visit of the Paisley side this weekend. He said: “We’re hoping it’s short-term.
