Outgoing chairman Jim McMahon insists he’s not embarrassed by Motherwell’s appeal for A-list investment as he rubbished claims the Steelmen have reached for the begging bowl.
The Fir Park club drew scorn from a section of their support this week for a social media video aimed at attracting new backers but which was branded “toe-curling”.
However, McMahon says the numbers are already stacking up with more than 10 declarations of interest and a raft of new members for majority shareholder the Well Society. And he reiterated that the club is not in financial trouble with enough cash to cover the next two years.
McMahon said: “I don’t see this as us begging for money. I’m not embarrassed by it. My thanks go to all the people who turned up - fans, staff, players who gave their time and were right out their comfort zone - the fact they all combined to do this.“I’m not embarrassed and I don’t think it’s a desperate cry for money.
