Calem Nieuwenhof insists Lawrence Shankland hasn’t taken his eye off the ball amid fevered transfer talk. The Jambos hitman has been lethal from the spot this season and rattled 15 penalties in a row into the net.
But Shankland has gone off the boil from 12 yards in recent times and Tuesday night’s saved effort against Dundee was the third on the bounce he has failed to bury.
The frontman’s gaffer Steven Naismith shrugged it off after Hearts stormed back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. And midfield ace Nieuwenhof is adamant there is no danger Shankland’s head has been turned with all the talk about his future.
The Scotland man has been linked with a move to Rangers and also has several clubs in England on his trail. But Nieuwenhof – who slammed a long-range stunner to spark the comeback – has no doubts the £4million-rated hitman’s mind is on the job despite the spot-kick woe.
