Motherwell and Ross County battled out a stalemate at Fir Park as the 2024-25 Premiership season got underway.Both sides might well be happy with a point, but it's possible that the visitors will more cheerfully take theirs back up the road.Motherwell created the better chances that did appear, though they didn't do enough with them, and there weren't a lot of those either.Both sides were very much feeling each other out in the opening stages, and with a few meaty challenges that ref John Beaton let go unpunished.There wasn't much in it, but Zach Robinson should have done better than curl a shot round a post when through on goal, while Moses Ebiye saw a shot saved at point-blank range.County posed a threat at times but didn't offer much that you wouldn't really expect Aston Oxborough to have trouble with.The second half was more lively, without anything too clear-cut being created, though Dan Casey tested Laidlaw with an audacious lob, and at the other end Ronan Hale had a fierce free kick well saved.Ewan Wilson had Motherwell's best chance of the second half with five minutes left, but Laidlaw again saved superbly.Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell made one change to the side that drew with Partick Thistle last Sunday, with Moses Ebiye in for Filip Stuparevic.His Ross County counterpart Don Cowie made four to the side that beat Stirling Albion 3-0 last weekend.
