Zack Sharf Digital News Director Morgan Wallen is currently selling hats and t-shirts on his official website with the viral quote “Get Me to God’s Country” on them.
The quote is now closely associated with the country star’s controversial walk-off exit from “Saturday Night Live” during the March 29 episode, in which he served as musical guest and “Anora” Oscar winner Mikey Madison was the host.
Wallen walked off the “SNL” stage during the end of the show when the host and musical guest typically stay to hug the show’s cast.
Wallen performed two songs on “SNL’s” March 29 episode ahead of his new album dropping in May. The singer’s decision to walk off the stage prompted speculation on social media about whether or not he had issues with “SNL.” He posted a photo to his Instagram story after the show of a private jet with a caption that read: “Get me to God’s country.” The post only fueled more rumors of Wallen allegedly hating “SNL.” Sources in Wallen’s camp told Variety the day after the episode was filmed that Wallen had no tension with “SNL” and stressed the singer had a good time and no slight was intended with either his prompt exit or his Instagram post.
