More than one third of Scots are struggling to pay rising energy bills as costs spiral

More than one third of Scots believe their spiralling energy bills are unaffordable, according to a new poll.Of the 36% of people who said they could not afford their gas and electricity bills, eight in 10 cited rising energy costs as a reason.

The Citizens Advice Scotland survey also found almost two thirds (65%) of those polled said cost of living is an issue. The charity has warned of a “perfect storm” this winter, with rising energy bills coming on the back of an increase in the energy price cap and the Universal Credit uplift getting scrapped.
