A new development is set to bring more than 250 new homes, 'makers spaces' and green space to Ancoats. The Phoenix Ironworks project is being managed by Manchester Life, a joint-venture between the council and the Abu Dhabi United Group.
The firm has developed a swathe of Ancoats over the last decade, including revitalising the Royal Mills complex. Now it wants to renovate a former ironworks on Jersey Street.
The site, which is also bound by Radium Street, Naval Street, and Poland Street, is currently used for storage and warehousing. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community At the core of the project will be 256 new homes, ranging from one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, duplexes, and townhouses.
There will also be a private residents’ courtyard. That sits next to a series of makers’ spaces, plans released today (May 11), show.
