Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Miranda Lambert has been met with backlash online after sharing an old photo of herself posing with convicted felon, Joe Exotic.

Joe - real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage - has been thrown into the public eye recently after the release of Netlfix documentary Tiger King, which focuses on him, his rivalries, and his collection of exotic animals.

He is currently doing time behind bars for 17 federal charges of animal abuse, as well as two counts of murder for hire. Miranda, who's been outspoken about her passion for animals, shared a throwback snap of herself, Joe, his ex-husband John Finlay and two zoo workers.
