Kevin Nisbet has been ruled out of Scotland's crunch clash with Spain in Seville on Thursday. The Scots are hoping to do the double on the former world and European champions to book their place at Euro 2024, following a 2-0 win at Hampden in March.Cambuslang ace Nisbet, 26, was named in the squad to face the Spanairds, but he will not travel with the Steve Clarke's party after picking up a hamstring injury with club side Millwall. It means he joins fellow Lanarkshire star Kieran Tierney on the sidelines, with the Real Sociedad defender ruled out, possibly until Christmas, with a hamstring issue suffered in a 3-0 over Athletic Bilbao at the start of the month.
Nisbet is reportedly awaiting scan results to assess the extent of his injury after coming off during Millwall's draw with Hull City over the weekend.
Two other Lanarkshire stars are fit for the squad with Cambuslang's Kenny McLean of Norwich City called up alongside Bologna's Lewis Ferguson, from Hamilton.Scotland currently top Group A in Euro 2024 qualifying with a 100 per cent record and can clinch qualification on Thursday by either beating or drawing with Spain.
If group rivals Norway draw or lose to Cyprus, this would also seal Scotland's spot in Germany next summer.Failing that, if Spain draw or defeat Norway in a qualifier on Sunday, Scotland's spot at the finals would be secured then.Scotland are idle in the group after Thursday's clash and travel to France for a glamour friendly on Tuesday.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
