A millionaire has bequeathed his entire fortune to his hometown of Tourrettes in France, with explicit instructions for it to be used for creating a reception centre for the elderly and other charitable causes.
Marcelin Arthur Chaix, who called Tourrettes home for the majority of his life, stipulated that the wealth should serve the commune's senior citizens.
It is reported that the facility, capable of hosting 10 individuals, is expected to be welcoming occupants by 2026. Marcelin's testamentary gesture, aimed at benefiting a specific segment of Tourrettes's populace, has garnered praise from the local community after the reading of his will at the town hall.
In total, Marcelin left €2.5million (£2.06m) to the commune.
