Milestone celebration for Paisley Aldi worker as she marks 20 years in the business

A store assistant is set to celebrate after spending two decades ringing up bargains for budget supermarket favourite Aldi.Julie Purcell will mark the milestone this month, after joining the German discount giant's staff in 2002.Shopworker Julie, who is based at the chain's busy Fulbar Road store, says she loves the busy role working with the public and thrives in a busy atmosphere.She has seem many changes over her 20 year spell with the store, including the introduction of new technology such as scanners at tills, a clocking-in system for staff and the growth of the store's popularity reflected in the team's ramping up from just five to 30 workers.Speaking about her two decades in the job, Julie said: "It has been a privilege to work at Aldi for 20 years and I’ve really enjoyed being part of Aldi’s journey.

It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come."And she says she will continue in the job, adding: "I’ve loved working here and want to thank my amazing colleagues who make it such a great place to come to work every day.

I’m looking forward to the next 20." Julie also confessed that she has her favourites amongst Aldi's range, including a breakfast guilty pleasure, saying: "I’m no stranger to a Specially Selected Ribeye Steak, three Browning’s the Baker potato scones and a fried egg for breakfast, which I have more than I should perhaps admit!"
