Mikel Arteta has urged the Arsenal board to back him to improve his squad in the transfer market - after Premier League rivals Chelsea splashed the cash to sign Timo Werner.
The Gunners resume their top-flight campaign at Manchester City on Wednesday night languishing in ninth place in the table, eight points behind the Blues in fourth.
Indeed, the Stamford Bridge club are on the brink of confirming the £53million signing of Werner from RB Leipzig in a move which will undoubtedly boost Frank Lampard's side.
And while Arteta acknowledged it may take time to climb the table, he believes it is essential that he is given the chance to sign players in order to fulfil the ambitions of both himself and the club.
