Michael Kirk Douglas (born September 25, 1944) is an American actor and producer. He has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.
The elder son of Kirk Douglas and Diana Dill, Douglas received his Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His early acting roles included film, stage, and television productions. Douglas first achieved prominence for his performance in the ABC police procedural television series The Streets of San Francisco, for which he received three consecutive Emmy Award nominations.
Michael Keaton has revealed that he would like people to call him by his real name – however, this presents a problem as his real name is shared by another Hollywood star.The actor, whose new film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives in cinemas tomorrow (September 6), told People that he’d like to be known by his real name professionally – which is Michael Douglas, the same as the star of Fatal Attraction and Wall Street.Despite the confusion sharing a name with another A-lister may cause, he’s said there is a solution that he thinks could work – being known instead as Michael Keaton Douglas.He told People, “I said, ‘Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas,'” about his work on the film Knox Goes Away, which he recently directed.
He added: “It totally got away from me. And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But that will happen,” he added, saying going forwards he would like to use his real name more.He went on to quote Screen Actors Guild mandates, which forbid a performer signing a contract if their name is the name of another registered member – and how this led him to come up with the name ‘Keaton’.
