Michael Jackson’s planned residency at London’s O2 Arena may have been the final straw for the star, causing huge pressure and leading to the massive drug use which caused his death.
A new book on the legendary singer claims that by January 2009 the star’s judgment was addled by drugs and fear of financial ruin.
He signed his final contract for a series of O2 concerts without analysing the details. Initially he thought he was agreeing to just 10 shows from July 13 but he was, it’s claimed, signing a contract that could tie him in to indefinite dates.
The series then ballooned to 50 shows and under the terms of the agreement, Michael, 50, was said to be liable for all the costs of staging it and would not get paid until they were recouped.
