A new report has emerged about the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael! After previous reports of delays due to legal issues, the upcoming movie, which stars the late King of Pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, is said to likely be split into two movies, according to Variety. Keep reading to find out more… With the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic possibly being split into two movies, the original October 3rd release date is also likely being pushed back.
The movie initially wrapped filming in May 2024, but has recently picked back up for reshoots. Nia Long, who is portraying matriarch Katherine Jackson, was spotted on set this week in Los Angeles.
Earlier this year, it was reported the biopic needed revisions due to legal issues around Jordan Handler, who accused Michael of molesting him. Jordan reportedly came to an agreement with Michael‘s estate to never be referenced in any sort of project about the musician.
He also received a $20 million settlement. It was reported that the higher-ups from the movie were unaware of the agreement, which led to issues with the movie’s third act.
